The Beatles: Sgt Pepper ‘Xtra Dot’ Stereo. Flame Inner/Cut Outs. Play Tested VG. PCS 7027

PLAY TESTED. NO SKIPS, JUMPS OR STICKING.

thebeatles-collection.com considers this to be a second pressing, though with the same black label with yellow logo and silver print, and ‘The Gramophone Co. Ltd’ printed at the perimeter, with ‘Sold in U.K.’ text. It also has the same Matrix Numbers as the first press, YEX 637-1 & 637-2, along with the KT tax code to the Side 1 label. It also came with the same gatefold flip-back laminated sleeve, with dark green cut-outs.

thebeatles-collection.com, also states that the record was housed in a standard EMI plain white inner, though some believe that a small number came housed in the original psychedelic red & white inner sleeve (‘patent applied’, to bottom right corner). This is one such pressing, with the crucial misprinted EXTRA DOT in ‘SOLD IN.U.K.’ subject to resale price conditions, see price lists.

Vinyl: Visual. VG

The usual marks, scuffs, hairlines etc, to both sides, though with nothing deep or feelable. There is a more visible small mark across the opening tracks of side 2, however there is no discernible deterioration in audio quality, and just as importantly, both sides play without skips, jumps, or sticking.

Vinyl: Playback. VG+

Absolutely NO SKIPS, JUMPS, OR STICKING at any point.

There is of course the usual occasional surface noise, and some ‘pops’ and ‘crackles’, but nothing to spoil the overall audio quality, which I’d describe as VG+.

Labels:

Side 1 is clean and graffiti free, with just minor spindle ware. KT tax code.

Side 2 as side 1, though without tax code. Very small small to left of centre hole.

Matrix Numbers:

Side 1: YEX 637-1

Mother: (none visible)

Stamper: GO

Side 2: YEX 638-1

Mother: 33

Stamper: RR

Sleeve.

The laminate flipback G/F sleeve, with PCS Stereo to top right rear, has had some tape repair to bottom right (barely visible), and obvious signs of some creasing to front and rear. Inside the sleeve is excellent, with the flip backs and images superb. The spine is not the best, with some splitting across the text, and creasing.

‘Fool’/‘Flame’ inner has again had some tape repair. It’s also had tape repair to the top/opening, where there are also some rips/tares etc.

The original dark green cut-out, is in near perfect condition, without any obvious defects to front or back. Some tiny/barely visible indents/creases to bottom half left side. I doubt you’ll even see them on first inspection, though feel free to zoom in on the photos for a thorough look.

Please view all photos, as they form part of the description. More on request.

I’d most fairly describe the overall package as minimum VG, though I do tend to be quite conservative in my listing descriptions.

Other items also available. 50% postage discount given on any subsequent item purchased.

Immediate payment much appreciated, though not insisted upon. However, if payment is not made within the accepted four day timeframe (unless previously agreed), I will report it to EBay as non-payment, and leave negative feedback. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but non-payment seems to be on the increase, and it’s irritating and time consuming to chase after those who don’t pay on time.
