RARE MT EMBOSSED TAX CODE TO SIDE 1

STUNNING AUDIO QUALITY. BARELY A CLICK/POP OR CRACKLE, AND ABSOLUTELY NO JUMPS, SKIPS, OR STICKING. I’VE HEARD BRAND NEW RECORDS WITH MORE CRACKLE AND SURFACE NOISE THAN ON THIS COPY. SUPERB.

This is the second mono pressing, produced between 1966 and 1969. Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Patents pending front laminated flipback cover, with outline mono on front cover. Black label with yellow logo and silver print. ‘Gramophone Co’ perimeter print, and ‘Sold In U.K.’ text. Housed in an Emitex die-cut inner. Rare side 1 MT tax code.

49-2 & 550-2 matrix numbers.

Vinyl Appearance.

Whilst retaining a nice glossy sheen to both sides, there are a small number of marks/hairlines/light scratches, with side 1 being cleaner than side 2. However, there is absolutely no affect to what is truly superb audio.

Labels.

Ultra rare MT embossed tax code to side 1.

There is some light spindle ware and marks, but is otherwise clean, graffiti free, and has the Sans-Serif font (known as variation A).

Side 2 has less spindle ware, and is otherwise unmarked.

The 2nd mono press variation A labels use the Sans-Serif font. The font is thick, with the same * credit indicator for ‘I Need You’, placed to the right of the song title. The laqueur numbers are also shifted relative to the date on both sides.

Inner Sleeve.

Original die-cut Emitex inner has some corner creasing, and a small tare/cut to the window, but is otherwise very good, with no seam splits.

Sleeve.

Some light ringing to front right, and a small tare/feathering (see photos). Rear top right has ‘Jackie’ in pen. Some spotting also to the rear. Strong, easily legible spine.

In conclusion, this is a lovely, original 2nd mono press, with truly excellent audio, ultra rare embossed MT tax code, giving an overall grading of excellent. Excellent simply because the audio is so good. Plus, it’s housed in its original Emitex inner sleeve.

However, I tend to be quite conservative in my gradings/descriptions, as being a collector myself, I appreciate that accurate and honest grading is paramount. Thus, I retain a 100% positive feedback rating, so rest assured, you can bid with confidence.
