"Samurai Champloo" aired on TV in 2004. Directed by Shinichiro Watanabe, this film was a epoch-making work at the time, with its novel visuals and music that "champlooed" the elements of period drama and hip-hop, captivating not only anime fans but also hip-hop freaks. Even now, it is highly evaluated not only in Japan but also overseas.
The artists selected by Director Watanabe, who is also known for his deep knowledge of music, for this work are the rare track makers Nujabes and Five Deez, who shook the scene with their lo-fi HipHop and later created many followers both in Japan and overseas. Has been active since the 2000s, and has also released an album produced by Nujabes as a solo artist ・Fat jon, has worked on remixes for many artists, and is a unit of KZA and DJ KENT, who has a presence as a top runner in the club scene both in Japan and overseas ・FORCE OF NATURE, As the track maker of SHAKKAZOMBIE, TSUTCHIE has been leading the scene since the dawn of Japanese HipHop.
The tracks made for their "Samurai Champloo" were released in 2004 as 4 CDs, "Departure", "masta", "impression" and "playlist", and recorded smash hits.

"Samurai Champloo" (2004) TV animation soundtrack 1 "DEPARTURE"
Music Nujaves, Fat John Director Shinichiro Watanabe Original/Production Mangrove Voice actors Kazuya Nakai, Ginpei Sato, Ayako Kawasumi
Shinichiro Watanabe of "Macross Plus" and "Cowboy Bebop" directs a historical animation with a hip-hop taste that is full of hobby. The music was commissioned to 4 groups of track makers, mainly hip-hop, and a CD was released for each maker. This is one of the most popular albums, and the opening "battlecry", which features Shing02's inorganic sweet track and dry rap overlap, sounds like a folk song arranged in a slow hip-hop style sung by MINMI. The ending "Shiki no Uta" is full size, and in the intellectual dynamism, we provide a comfortable space with sound design such as cool sample melody loops, chill out, minimal music, and easy listening. Up to the 6th track is Nujaves, and the 7th to 16th track is by Fat John, the track maker of FiveDeez who lives in Germany. Unprecedented animation drama accompaniment. (C) Toshihiro Baba Payment
