Product Description
Doylestown, Pennsylvania quartet Daylight formed in 2007 and spent the years leading up to the release of their debut full-length, Jar, releasing their music in the form of small-scale EPs and honing a sound that fell somewhere between basement-bred emo and a throwback to the heyday of '90s grunge. Down to the '90s-influenced cover art, Jar takes cues from the more coherent pop side of grunge, with tracks like "Outside of Me" and "Life in a Jar" sounding like the heavier side of acts like Stone Temple Pilots, Quicksand, and early Smashing Pumpkins, complete with angsty breakdowns and creepy vocal harmonies. The obligatory slower songs are equally heavy, with "Youngest Daughter" finding its sound somewhere between Sunny Day Real Estate and Alice in Chains. ~ Fred Thomas
