2 RARE Columbia test pressings of Sam Lanin's Ipana Troubadours April 15 1929..
These are quite interesting test pressings. Number three is an approval, test number four is rejected. It is marked on the rim of test number four that it is a test for Mr. Freibus at Columbia. It is rejected because the vocal is too distant. In playing it it sounds really nice outside of the vocal. On test number three everything works together perfectly and it is approved to be released in June of 1929. On the backs of each test pressing is a Columbia logo with the notes and very decorative.
Each of the test pressings is in good plus condition.
Test number 4 plays very well and has some irregular markings on the disc that I didn't notice making any sounds. There are some scratches as it gets to the label. But it plays well.
It's probably a fair guess that this is the only existing copy.
Test number 3 plays very well and is just fine.
These two rarities belong together. So they are being sold as a set.
They will of course be carefully packed in a new box.
