BEATLES: PEPPER UK 1st PRESS MONO WIDE SPINE/RED INNER/CUT OUTS. 1 MOTHER TO SIDE 1.

PLAY TESTED. MINIMUM VG+ PLUS AUDIO.

MONO PMC 7027. FIRST EVER PRESSING. FIRST PRESS MATRIX. 1 MOTHER TO SIDE 1. GATEFOLD WIDE SPINE FLIP BACK LAMINATED SLEEVE WITH ORIGINAL NEAR MINT PETER BLAKE DESIGNED CUT-OUTS, AND ORIGINAL EXCELLENT CONDITION ‘FLAME’ ‘FOOL’ SWIRL INNER, AND FIRST PRESS -1/-1 MATRIX ENDINGS. KT TAX CODE TO SIDE 2 CENTRE.

The audio is minimum VG+, and often excellent throughout, with some surface noise/light crackle on intro/run-ins at side 1 and side 2 beginning. There’s occasional background noise, though really very little, such as during ‘She’s Leaving Home’, and a light ‘pop’ during ‘Good Morning’ but is beautifully quite between tracks. ‘A Day In The Life’ is excellent throughout, often the litmus test for Pepper playback.

A largely excellent audio experience, with the sound still crisp, clear and punchy.

VISUAL - VG+

Visually, there is a glossy sheen, though with some marks/hairlines/and a more noticeable mark/scratch to side 1. very light scuffs visible, even under an angled light. There is a relatively faint mark across the final tracks of side 2, but it’s only really visible under angled light.

The vinyl sits flat to the turntable, with no warping. There are absolutely no skips, jumps or sticks, or loud obtrusive continual pops etc.

LABELS. EXCELLENT PLUS

The labels are bright, strong, clean and graffiti free on both sides, and are again excellent, with just some very minor spindle ware.

CUT-OUT - NEAR MINT

Original cut-out, in near mint condition, with next to no visible amount of ware/signs of storage.

GATEFOLD WIDE SPINE SLEEVE - VERY GOOD++

The laminated ‘printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd’ g/f rare wide spine sleeve, which looks great on the shelf compared to the more common thin spined variant, is clean and bright, though with some shelf ware. Most noticeable scuffing/shelf ware is to right and left corner. The wide spine has some very light creasing, but is strong, well defined and beautifully legible.

The front panel is glossy, without ring ware, though there’s a sticker (possibly removable) to top left.

The rear has light creasing, but is again minimum VG++.

The inner g/f is bright, clean, with a little creasing/ware to the hinge. The opening edges are clean and defined, with very little ‘feathering’.

It is the first pressing wide spine sleeve, with internal fold over seams/flip backs on the inside, and is in VG++ overall glossy condition.

‘FLAME INNER’. EXCELLENT.

The original ‘Patents Applied For’ ‘flame’ ‘The Fool’ designed inner, is excellent, with just minor creasing. No tares or rips.

PETER BLAKE CUT-OUTS. NEAR MINT.

Unused, dark green, and in superb condition throughout.

In conclusion, this is a lovely, original first press mono, with largely excellent audio, housed in the rare mono wide spine variant gatefold sleeve, with cut-out card and ‘fool’ inner, which I’d give an overall grading as minimum VG++. I do though tend to be quite conservative in my gradings/descriptions, as being a collector myself, I appreciate that accurate and honest grading is paramount. Thus, I retain a 100% positive feedback rating, so rest assured, you can bid with confidence.
