THE BEATLES/HELP PMC 1255 1965 2nd MONO PRESS, variant A. KT Tax Code with original Tracing-paper lined Emitex inner. Tested. Audio minimum VG++

PLAY TESTED MONDAY MARCH 13TH. ABSOLUTELY NO SKIPS, JUMPS OR STICKING. AUDIO MINIMUM VG++.

Complete and original U.K. Album, originally issued by Parlophone (yellow & black labels) in 1965. PMC 1255).

This is the Second Mono pressing, released between 1966 & 1969.

Second pressing with 549-2 & 550-2 matrix, and original tracing-paper lined die-cut Emitex inner. Known as Variant A, for labels using Sans-Serif thick font. Has the same * credit indicator for ‘I Need You’ placed to the right of the song title. The laqueur numbers have also shifted relative to the date on both sides.

AUDIO: VG++

The heavyweight vinyl has just a little crackle/surface noise/static on intros/run-ins, though relatively little between tracks. Very occasional surface noise during a few tracks, though by no means all. For the most part, it plays excellently, though I’d give an overall audio grading of VG+*. The sound is still punchy and well defined. Absolutely no skips, jumps or sticking.

Side 2 similar, but probably quieter re surface noise/crackle.

VISUAL: VG

VG playing surfaces, with the marks/hairlines/light scratches that you’d expect of a 60yr old record. Nothing deep, and certainly nothing feelable.

SLEEVE: VG+

The front laminate retains much of its original lustre and colour. It does have some very light ‘ringing’ to top right, and minor creasing. More prominent creasing to left of George’s right hand/near spine.

The rear is not quite as presentable, though with no lifting of the Garrod & Lofthouse flip-backs, no graffiti, just some light marks/scuffs/age related ‘yellowing’. More prominent marks/staining to right of ‘Emitex’ circle to bottom right.

All four corners are strong, as is the spine, with just a little light creasing.

Very little edge ware to top and bottom.

EMITEX TRACING PAPER LINED INNER - VG+

The original tracing paper-lined inner, is in good shape. No seam splits, graffiti, though with a small tare near the window. There’s a little creasing, with the vinyl housed inside an audiophile quality anti-static inner, to protect the record.

LABELS: VG+

Side 1:

Clean, graffiti free, bright, and very little spindle ware.

Some slight marks/scuffing.

KT embossed tax code.

Side 2:

As above. No tax code.

So in conclusion, this is a 2nd Mono press of The Beatles fifth album. The audio is at least VG++, with the record housed in its original tracing paper-lined Emitex inner.
