The Beatles ABBEY ROAD 1st UK Press MISALIGNED APPLE SLEEVE No 'Her Majesty'. Audio is excellent, as is the vinyl appearance. 1 Mother to Side 2.

Misaligned Apple, ‘cigarette’, visible drain, and no ‘Her Majesty’ to side 2 label, or sleeve.

PLAY TESTED. EXCELLENT AUDIO. ABSOLUTELY NO SKIPS OR JUMPS.

It plays beautifully for the most part, with undistorted audio, clear and punchy sound, with just light minimal surface noise/static on intros/run-ins to either side for 30secs or so. Very little surface noise/crackle elsewhere. Just a little faint static between ‘The End’ and ‘Her Majesty’, and two light clicks during ‘Her Majesty’.

Gloriously quiet between tracks, giving an audio grading of excellent.

Visually, it’s also excellent, with just a very small number of light marks (see photos). Lovely and glossy, retaining its shine, and it sits flat on the turntable. The very light marks that are apparent, are really only visible under angled light.

PCS 7088 Stereo, September 1969.

Fully laminated cover without flaps on the back side, printed by Garrod & Lofthouse, and of course this first press cover, has the misaligned Apple to the rear, and the first press covers also have a mild green tint.

The pressing also has dark green labels, with the first variant having ‘An EMI Recording’ text on two lines and a small ‘33 1/3’ text to the left side. Publishing year printed with small copyright symbol (p). Of course, the label also omits ‘Her Majesty’ on side 2. The matrix numbers are YEX 749-2 & YEX 750-1.

THE SLEEVE. VG/VG+

The sleeve is in VG condition, glossy, though with some creasing, most prominent to left side front corners. Some minor ringing to front panel, but again, really only visible under angled light. There is a couple of light creases to the spine, very little edge wear, and clean to both front and back, has strong sharp top corners, with some minor scuffing/ware to bottom corners, and of course, with the Apple logo clearly and obviously misaligned to the rear.

LABELS: EXCELLENT

Labels to both sides are excellent, though with a noticeable ‘M R MUSIC MAN RECORDS’ print. No visible spindle wear to either side. Excellent.

INNER. VG

This is the original inner from the initial sale (though not the one window black inner that housed some first pressings), as signified by the same ‘M R MUSIC MAN’ printed to the front side of the poly lined cover.

It’s in overall VG condition, with a small seam split to the bottom.

In conclusion, this is a lovely, original first press ‘misaligned Apple’ sleeve copy, with no ‘Her Majesty’ to sleeve or label, with an overall grading of VG+, though with an audio grading of excellent. I do though tend to be quite conservative in my gradings/descriptions, as being a collector myself, I appreciate that accurate and honest grading is paramount. Thus, I retain a 100% positive feedback rating, so rest assured, you can bid with confidence.
