This is a very rare original 1958 first pressing copy of the John Coltrane with the Red Garland Trio LP, on Prestige PRLP-7123. This was Coltrane's second ever session as a band leader. Rudy Van Gelder's initials in the runoff, and true original first pressing West 50th address. This copy is rather worn but plays surprisingly well. That is, there are no skips or catches, and no groove distortion. But there is crackle throughout. The first track plays the best of them all, with music that is loud enough to drown out the background noise, most of the time, but the rest of the record has quite a bit of crackle. Still the music comes through pretty clearly and with the right EQ the noise can be minimized. The cover is really quite nice, though. There is a bad corner ding at the lower right, and a lesser one at the lower left, but otherwise it is in remarkably nice shape. No seam splits, and a fully intact and readable spine. The image and information are clean and unblemished. Really a nice looking copy, if you have a good disc with a worn cover... anyhow this is not a great playing copy but not the worst. And the cover is pretty nice.
