There's almost no crazier song in the crazy history of the 60's than "Surfin' Bird"...I'm a little young to have heard it on the radio, so my first exposure to this fine composition was when the Ramones did a cover version. Theirs was faithful enough to the original that it did have the desired effect--jaw dropped.
Here is the original, the strange geniuses themselves, the Trashmen, here seen wearing identical suits while palling around with a Minneapolis garbage truck. 1964 looked like this.
This piece of vinyl is glossy and beautiful, but I'm not calling it Near Mint because of two details--small crackles in the lead-in grooves on both side 1 and side 2. It's brief and not disturbing, but it's also not Minty, so I've got it as VG++. Believe me, it's mint except for that detail.
It's hard to find this 60-year-old album in this great condition, maybe because the kind of person who loved "Surfin' Bird" was not the kind of person who takes tender care of their posessions. That's speculation on my part.
The sleeve, which after all is a major source of the entertainment here, is quite nice with no splits and just a hint of ringwear on the back. Happy to call it NM.
