For sale is without a doubt one of the CLEANEST 1956 Mono first pressings of the incredible and iconic Ella and Louis album with the earliest orange and yellow Verve labels in existence. This is a TOP COPY…STUNNING condition final upgrade…ARCHIVAL QUALITY!

See below for detailed description. I could not believe my eyes when I discovered this copy…this is a tough one to part with but quite frankly it is TOO NICE for my personal collection. I do not like the responsibility that comes with handling and storing such a nearly pristine 67 year old record.

The disc has been ultrasonically cleaned and placed into an archival inner sleeve. I played it one time and it sounds absolutely amazing. This is an incredibly rare record in this condition one for the truly discerning audiophile and/or the vault. I am open to fair offers.

Sleeve: VG+

This crisp, beautiful sleeve is exceptionally clean. There is only the tiniest amount of wear visible. The corners and opening edges are sharp, except for the slightest dulling of the top and bottom right- see photos. The two most important flaws to mention are a 1/2” seam split on the top opening edge and about 1/2” of cracking of the paper on the top of the spine. The rear of the sleeve is as white and clear as could be. There are a few white spots along the left on front slick which could be wear or could be a printing error. As clean as the rest is, I’m inclined to think that is how it originally came. Truly in spectacular condition.

Disc: NM-

GORGEOUS disc has full gloss. I do not use the NM grade lightly. This is truly that nice. There are only a couple of the tiniest hairlines visible under direct bright light and one tiny little spot of some kind. There are no scratches. No scuffs. I cannot believe how close to flawless this disc is, being such an iconic title that is nearly 70 years old. The disc was still in its original baggy (which is included) that has almost no wrinkling which obviously implies that this was VERY rarely played, if EVER. There is even some residual vinyl still left around the spindle hole just as with brand new pressings before they are used.

Labels: NM-

These earliest orange and yellow deep groove labels predate the black Verve labels. There are no spindle marks or evidence of play. There are two flaws that appear to be printing errors- a “smudge” of yellow on the A side label and a small circle on the B side along the bottom rim text.

Shipping: The disc has been ultrasonically cleaned, placed into an archival inner sleeve and stored behind the jacket in a plastic outer sleeve. It will be sandwiched snugly between two cardboard stiffeners, placed into an LP mailer and doubled boxed with bubble wrap to ensure maximum safe delivery. Media Mail is $6 for this or I will ship Priority for $15 anywhere in the USA.

International sales will be shipped using eBay’s global shipping program. I personally have absolutely nothing to do with the cost of that, but have recently shipped two records to the UK to two very satisfied customers so I will continue to use that.

Thanks for looking and don’t hesitate to ask any questions!
