ABOUT COSMIC VOODOO
Cosmic Voodoo was an American Psychobilly band from Southern California, formed in 1992 by:

Michael T Hansen - Guitar and Vocals
    Alan Nichelson - Drums
    Jeff Roffredo - Upright Bass

Michael and Alan were formerly in The Blazers, a group founded while the original members were in junior high school. The Blazers started as a Rockabilly group but later shifted to playing Psychobilly after some lineup changes. They recorded and self-released a 4-song EP titled Kryptonite.

Six weeks after forming, Cosmic Voodoo entered Bandwest Studios in Anaheim, California, on February 28, 1993, and recorded a three-song demo. After hearing the tape, Raucous Records in the UK released the songs as a 7” EP titled Devil’s Dementia, which came in two versions: one with a pumpkin orange sleeve and the other with a very limited number of “bone white” sleeves. The tracks featured were: "Riverbed Blues," "Old Man In The Woods," and "I Am The Moon." The latter two also appeared on several CD compilations on Raucous Records, such as Only Freeways To Skinner Kat (which also contains two Blazers tracks), Psycho Tendencies, Psychobilly Hell (which also contains two Blazers tracks), Rockin’ With Raucous, and Raucous Records (The Psychobilly Collection).

In 1994, the legendary English Psychobilly band The Krewmen came to California for a tour with Cosmic Voodoo. Unfortunately, the promoter over-promised and the tour had to be cut short.

On October 21-22, 1994, the group entered For The Record studio in Orange, California, to record 6 tracks: "Vertigo," "Buried Alive," "Slowly Burn," "Pumpkin Head," "Just My Wicked Ways," and "Necroland." However, the tracks remained unpublished until 2005.

Shortly after, personal problems and interpersonal spats (typical in many bands) led to a prolonged hiatus for the band.

Sometime in 1996, Cosmic Voodoo reformed, this time with Joe “Voodoo” Rodriguez on drums. Jeff was busy and committed to playing with L.A. Psychobilly band Calavera, so an agreement was made to record a selection of songs and then bid adieu to Jeff. This time, the band aimed to rev up and strip down the sound, adopting a decidedly Garage Punk approach to recording.

On March 8, 1997, the band entered Studio 143 in Anaheim, California, for an all-day, live-in-the-studio recording marathon. One song, "Buried At (The Crossroads)," appeared on the 1998 Hairball 8 Records CD compilation Hotter Than Hell - An Injection Of Psychobilly Madness. The remainder of the songs from that session remained unreleased until 2005.

Michael and Joe decided to continue as a two-piece and kept busy with a heavy gigging schedule for several months until Michael decided to call it quits.

In 2005, Michael and Jeff came together again to put together a CD of rare and unreleased tracks titled Vertigo. At the same time, Cosmic Voodoo was invited to reunite - this time with James Meza (of Tiger Army and The Rezurex) on drums - for the Hollywood Showdown. This lineup also recorded the track "Bossa Nova Baby" for the Rockin’ Raven Records CD compilation God Save The King, a Psychobilly tribute to Elvis Presley.

In 2022, Psychoholic Records released a limited edition, hand-numbered, 180g vinyl LP of Vertigo.
