Super rare copy of the now-legendary Like People: Sounds of Young Los Angeles LP, self-released on their own S.O.Y.L.A. label, SOYLA-101. This was a collection of recordings of various groups involved in a diverse non-profit youth group operating out of the El Sereno neighborhood of L.A., with some excellent heavy funk, Chicano sweet soul, psych folk etc. Classic Laurel Canyon sweetness and East LA grease. A very racially and culturally inclusive statement. So rare and so in demand.. never reissued. This copy is quite beautiful. There are some light marks on the disc but they don’t affect the play except in a couple of spots where there is light crackle. The track Serenade to a Chicken Wing by the L&M Jazz Quartet has a little crackling through part of it, but aside from that it is a very clean player. The cover is excellent, with only the slightest signs of gentle use. Really this is a beautiful copy of this rare prize. So hard to find in any condition, and this is a very nice one.
