I'm not a jet-setter but I did happen to go to London in December of 1976, and visited a tiny record store in Marble Arch called, bafflingly, "Virgin Records." On the wall were 45s from bands I'd never remotely heard of, and I bought handsful of them based strictly on the band's names--Sex Pistols, Killjoys, Stranglers--hm something was going on here. Too bad I didn't think to go out to a club eh wot.
One of those singles that ended up in my luggage was "Pogo Dancing" by the Vibrators, which when I got it home turned out to be a straight-up novelty number about a dance craze, including the immortal lyric "Why move from side to side when you can jump up and down?" A goofy fun keeper, and "We Vibrate" on the b-side was even more promising.
So when this album came out in the import bins, I nabbed it, and I don't know about anybody else but for me it's a classic. It really says 1977 to me, and that's saying a lot.
This one is the first UK edition on UK Epic/CBS, and the vinyl is glossy and it sounds great (NM, in an NM- sleeve). Vinyl brings the dynamics and this is pure fun.
