This is the original pressing of Sun Ra “The Night of the Purple Moon” on Saturn 522.   The playing surface has a beautiful luster throughout; however, Side A has a scuff covering the last five tracks, but is only audible towards the end of Track 2; Side B has a series of small hairlines at the end of the first and beginning of the second tracks that are audible towards the end of the first track, an inaudible scuff, and several inaudible hairlines; some occasional tics throughout, typical of Saturn pressings. The coated cover shows light shelfware; the front has a discoloration and surface wear at the lower left corner, and a light 1 ¼” water stain on the bottom edge; the back has a discoloration at the lower right corner and a ¾” stain towards the center.  This is a quartet session that includes John Gilmore, Danny Davis, and Stafford James.  $150.00.
