Condition Description & Other Information

The album's title was derived from a poem written by the band's friend Gary Blackman. Kantner explained that the title translates to "After Taking ", "Baxter" being the group's code word for the drug.

The cover art was designed by , then a  for the . The front cover depicts the band as a -era  with the body of a San Francisco .  plants are shown growing out of the house's flower boxes. The artwork is framed with a red bar on the bottom and a blue bar with white stars on the top, signifying the . The plane, painted in full colour, dispenses confetti while flying over a black and white landscape – embodying the white of the flag – with billboards reading messages such as "CONSUME!" and "DRINK IT" as parodies of American . The illustration continues onto the back cover, revealing a scrapheap followed by a pile of empty beverage cans. A banner attached to the plane displays the album's title. In 2008, Cobb's original painting sold at auction for $24,000.

John Hartford referenced the cover art from After Bathing at Baxter's as the inspiration for his song "Steam Powered Aereo Plane" from his album .

The  artwork consists of a handwritten track listing and photographs taken by Alan Pappé of each band member. Author Ken Bielen writes the lack of a group portrait highlights the members' individuality. 

Condition Report 

The Vinyl is described as VG+ to Excellent & played to Excellent during today's play-test, average background with a few pops in the very quiet parts & no skips or stops. There is a barely feelable line running across A3/A4 which bar a couple of clicks has no effect on sound quality. Spindle marks to both labels. There are a reasonable number of fine hairlines & sleeve marks to both sides of the record. The Vinyl has retained a nice waxy lustre.  The Gatefold Cover is made from that amazing US thick card & is described as VG+. There is some visible edge/spine & corner-wear. There are some fine cracks to spine & edges with associated wrinkles. There is some minor ring wear to front & verso. There are some colour losses to edges & spine. There are some very minor areas of foxing to front & verso. Couple of minor stains here & there. Please see attached photos...
