Very nice copy of the original 1960 pressing of Chuck Berry’s Rockin’ at the Hops LP on Chess mono 1448. Original black labels and laminated cover. This is one of Berry’s truly greatest records, with loads of great songs and incredible guitar playing, but it’s from a sort of sad period for him when the hits dried up. Not that he didn’t have good material! This is top shelf Berry, really fantastic. But it’s all stuff people rarely hear. A really great, great rock and roll album. And this is a really nice copy. The disc has some scuffing and hairlines but it plays quite beautifully. There are only a few spots where there is a little crackle, but it isn’t bad. Side one plays with absolutely no noise at all, just about perfectly, and side two had just a little crackle on maybe the last couple of songs, but mainly just between tracks. A little in the quieter parts but it really isn’t bad. This is really a remarkably great playing copy. The cover is also exceptionally clean and beautiful. There is some masking tape at the bottom center but I’m not sure if it is covering a split or not. I can’t detect one. This tape would probably be fully removable with some lighter fluid and a little patience. Aside from the tape the cover is shiny and clean with no splits or much wear at all. Some initials written on the back and some light corner wear and signs of light use, but an incredibly clean cover. This is truly a top, beautiful original copy. You rarely see them better than VG. Hard to beat this one.
