CHROMAKOPIA (TEST PRESSING VERSION 1) is a “limited edition, individually numbered CHROMAKOPIA test pressing vinyl by Tyler, The Creator”, per Golf Wang website.
This is a “test version” of Tyler, The Creator’s 8th studio album, CHROMAKOPIA. It wasn’t meant for mass production and was sold out a few days after the announcement that happened on October 22, 2024. The name that this physical edition was marketed under implies that there are some differences from the final album that was released on the digital platforms.
On October 28—the day that CHROMAKOPIA was released—a few customers began to receive this vinyl version, revealing the parts absent from the digital edition, with the first finds being Playboi Carti’s verse on “Thought I Was Dead” and a brand new vinyl-exclusive bonus song, “Mother,” as the 11th track. Additionally, Tyler has two alternative verses—one found on “St. Chroma,” and the other found on “Like Him.” However, “Balloon”—the 13th track on the digital version of the album—is not present on the test pressing version.
Other notable differences include the absence of Glorilla on “Sticky,” with her verse being replaced by another Tyler verse and the absence of Tyler’s mother—Bonita Smith—on many of the songs on the album. There are also many mixing differences found on this pressing, which is indicative of the fact that this is an earlier, rougher version of the released project.
