Arhoolie reissue of 1963 original, unknown reissue date. My guess is the reissue date is the mid-1970s since there are no bar codes on the labels or the sleeve. Plus for twenty-five cents you can get a copy of the Arhoolie catalog. Tracks were compiled from blues recorded in Houston, Texas and originally issued between 1948 and 1952 on the Houston-base Gold Star label. Typical of Arhoolie's mission, this album captures the vibrant regional music of its time. Lightnin Hopkins, Lil Son Jackson, et al. Vinyl is in excellent shape. Original shrink wrap is gone. Sides and corners of outer sleeve show some wear. Back sleeve shows a small stain in the very center. Please see photos. I will ship this record in an after-market outer sleeve. Great stuff for the collector.
