My absolute favorite country show is unfortunately one of the rarest.  It is called The Ralph Emery Show and was one of the most popular shows syndicated on radio ever.    Every day from Nashville, Ralph hosted the show.  One of the special parts of this show is that he had one artist or group co host the show with him for the entire week LIVE IN THE STUDIO.  It made for some great radio that has never been equaled.  THESE ARE NO CANNED INTERVIEWS THAT YOU HEAR - ITS RALPH AND HIS GUEST(S) INTERACTING TOGETHER IN THE STUDIO.  Ralph Emery, as you know,  is one of the greatest legends of country music broadcasting and his shows on WSM are legendary.     These shows show up rarely on ebay and I am offering my last few shows over the next month.   After that they are gone and that's it!          The show comes on FIVE STEREO LP's in great condition (I'd say an M -)    but come without their cue sheets.  There is a reason for no cue sheets.  These shows aired at the very beginning of syndicated programming on LP's.  Before this era, shows were distributed on the more cumbersome reel to reel tape and were returned to the distributor after every show to be bulk erased, taped over with the next show, and resent to the broadcast station.  Well, in the late 70's and early 80's copiers were still not common in the business world and things were still mimeographed.  (Remember how lucky you felt when your teacher allowed you to use the mimeograph machine to reproduce worksheets?)  Well, guess what - after over 30 years those mimeographed cue sheets have faded so much they are mostly not readable.  Guess no one thought that they had to last that long!  Anyway, each show has on its plain white sleeve the artist name so I knew who was featured.  The rest is up to you!   Having cue sheets is really not a big deal because you can listen in as if you were hearing it live for the first time on the day it broadcast and if you really want to know the order of songs you can write it down.  I also have knocked several dollars off the price to compensate for their not being there.  The important thing, THESE RECORDS ARE IN PRISTINE SHAPE.  They have been stored very well and look like the day they were pressed.  You can't do better.  And the music is just fabulous.  Check out the sample show listing below to get an idea of how a show is presented by the master, Ralph Emery.   THE GUEST HOST WAS IN THE STUDIO FOR EVERY SHOW THAT WEEK. YOU GET FIVE LP'S IN BEAUTIFUL SHAPE WITH THE FEATURED ARTIST IN STUDIO FOR THE WHOLE WEEK INTRODUCING THEIR SONGS, WITH ALL THE STORIES THAT GO WITH THEM,  ALONG WITH OTHER SONGS FROM CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS THAT YOU KNOW AND LOVE.            You will never get a more special, unique opportunity to own these rare shows.   I have seen these shows on ebay sold singly an hour for each listing, not all five from the week as I am offering you.  And sellers charge $8 or more for each hour.  That would be $40 for the 5 hour set.  Well, compare that with my price.  It is a SUPER SHOW       This week's edition of shows were aired from NOVEMBER 14-18, 1983    FIVE ONE HOUR SHOWS, an hour each day for a week on one lp front and back.          THE SPECIAL GUEST THIS WEEK WAS THE ONE AND ONLY  STEVE WARINER LIVE WITH RALPH EMERY ALL FIVE HOURS OF THE WEEK!!!   WHAT A CLASSIC SHOW.    Go to Wikipedia or any other on line site and read about Ralph Emery and his daily shows.  You will learn the full history and see why every artist of country music appeared on his show.  He was a respectful master of the genre and you will love these shows.      Here are the songs in one of the  FIVE HOUR SAMPLE EXTRAVAGANZA SHOWS that the cue sheets, although barely readable, could be deciphered!  REMEMBER, YOU ARE GETTING FIVE HOURS WORTH OF SHOWS FOR ONE LOW PRICE!         To give you an example of what a typical week was like, I will reproduce one week's worth of music from a show featuring Steve Wariner who was the guest host that week.  This is not the show you are buying but a sample of what a week's show looks like.  Similarly, my listing pictures are generic and not the actual show you are buying.  It is a sample only; they all look exactly the same except that the dates are different on the label.    Here is the sample show listings:        Monday:  ( All songs by STEVE WARINER are in bold print so you can see how many featured artist songs are played during the week along with the in studio talking between Ralph and the featured artists)                             Kansas City Lights,                     Don't It Break Your Heart,                   Can't Even Get The Blues - Reba McEntire,                  Sittin On The Dock of the Bay - Waylon and Willie,                The American Dream - Hank Williams Jr,                    All Roads Lead To You,                      I Wonder - Rosanne Cash,                   The Bird - Jerry Reed,               Confidential - Con Hunley,                So Sad To Watch Good Love Go Bad       Tuesday      Hold On - Gail Davies,                 Your Memory,                 With You - Charly McClain,                A Love Song - Kenny Rogers,                 A Child of the Fifties - Statler Brothers,               By Now,                  Back Slidin - Joe Stampley,                    Lost In Love On Our Last Date - Emmylou Harris,                  Tie Your Dream To Mine - Marty Robbins,              and               Daybreak                             Wednesday:                  Step Back - Ronnie McDowell,                    Don't Plan On Sleepin Tonight,                 Romance - Louise Mandrell,                    Only If There's Another You - Moe Bandy,                        San Antonio Nights  -Eddy Raven,                  Easy Parts Over ,                         Operator Long Distance Please - Barbara Mandrell,                   I Wish I Was In Nashville - Mel McDaniel,             whisper - Lacy J Dalton,                and            Beside Me.                           Thursday:                  Loves Gonna Fall Here Tonight - Razzy Bailey,                              Well Hello Again,                    Baby I'm Gone - Terri Gibbs,                   Lost My Baby Blues - David Frizzell,                  I Wanna Cross over - Alabama,                  All Roads Lead To You,                 Somewhere Between Night and Wrong - Earl Thomas Conley,                   Hold Me Tight - Anne Murray,                Marina Del Ray - George Strait,             and         Your Memory.                           Friday:       Stay A Little Longer - Mel Tillis,              She Never Meant a Thing To Me ,                    Faking Love - TG Sheppard and Karen Brooks,                 Ever Never Loving You - Ed Bruce,                 What Are We Doing In Love - Dottie West,                Kansas City Lights,                  Crying Again - Oak Ridge Boys,                  It Ain't Easy Being Easy - Janie Fricke,               Husbands and Wives - David Frizzell and Shelly West,                   and             Don't Plan On Sleepin Tonight.                                                WOW!!!                       What a great  show!!!                Remember, when you buy this show, not only will you own the tunes but also interspersed between songs is fascinating commentary on the artists and songs.  Also, keep in mind that this and all radio shows are not just about the music - the music can be found anywhere.  It is the mixture of great music and great announcing that makes it so entertaining.  As well, it is a VITAL piece of radio history and Americana.  You just aren't going to find these syndicated radio shows anymore.  Most people don't even know they exist!
