This is a 100% original Zambian pressing of Paul Ngozi and the Ngozi Family Band's "Monica" pt. 1 & 2. Part 2 (instrumental) is a real standout.
For those not familiar, the late 1970's saw a flourishing of a highly original and energetic hard rock scene, led by Witch, Rikki Illilonga, Chrissy Zebby Tembo, Amanaz, Keith Mlevhu, Salty Dog, 5 Revolutions, the Peace, and of course Paul Ngozi and his family. Many of these groups recorded only one or two albums and faded away into obscurity. Paul Ngozi, however, continued to be very prolific in later years, softening his sound somewhat and incorporating what one would consider more traditional African / High Life elements into his sound, but still retaining a distinct rock edge.
This single (and others up for auction) is one of such later recordings from 1982. As far as I know, these singles have never been listed for sale on eBay or Discogs. Don't bother looking for these anywhere else...you will not find them.
This is your chance to own a truly unique piece of musical history!
Notes about condition: This record is in far from mint condition. There are many scratches, clicks, and pops. However there are no warps or skips so the music plays just fine and is loud and clear. When it comes to Zamrock, you cannot be picky about condition...finding these records intact in any condition is a small miracle in itself. Relatively speaking, this is in very good shape for its provenance.
This auction is NO RESERVE, but don't kid yourself...you will likely not see these for sale again!!
Shipping cost will be calculated at end of auction, based on buyer location.
PERCENTAGE OF PROCEEDS FROM THIS AUCTION WILL BE DONATED TOWARDS IMPROVING WATER AND SANITATION CONDITIONS IN ZAMBIA THROUGH THE EXCELLENT WORK OF CAWST (cawst.org)
