PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

TOP COPY !!

CLEAN ALL OVER !

RARE collection copy, found as a MINTY 1968 first pressing on the famously collected RAINBOW Capitol label of the sixties...the underestimated 2nd Steve Miller Band album, issued in the heart of the San Francisco hippie psych scene...

SAILOR is a 60's West Coast psychedelic blues masterpiece. Honestly the first thing thats comes to mind is to pitty the ignorant masses that think Steve Miller's limited to corny pop-rock creations like "Abracadabra" or those who have only heard "Serenade" from their "Greatest rock hits of all time" compilations.

SAILOR features atmospheric and exquisitely textured instrumentals, melodic and vibrating guitar lines that successfully blend psychedelic and rock. It was also the last Steve Miller Band album to feature contributions by Boz Scaggs.

Sandwiched in between the band's love for the blues and R&B with "Gangster Of Love" and "You're So Fine" are great rock tracks such as "Living In The USA" and "Dime-A-Dance Romance." The desert-island choice, however, is the imaginative instrumental "Song For Our Ancestors." Close your eyes while listening to it and, without needing artificial stimulants, you can actually hear ferry boats entering the harbor, as captured in audio verite for the track. Steve Miller reiterated that he was always aware of forward thinking: "It's amazing what the breakthroughs are, and the quality is absolutely better and you don't have the digital/analog argument anymore about what sounds the best. It's all new. And now anybody in the world can do what I wanted to do so badly when I got my deal with Capitol Records and got to finally go into a recording studio." What was begun on Children of the Future is more fully realized on Sailor, most notably on the opening "Song for Our Ancestors," which begins with a foghorn and only gets stranger from there. Indeed, the song precognizes Pink Floyd's 1971 opus "Echoes" to such an extent that one wonders how much the latter enjoyed Miller's own wild ride. Elsewhere, the beautiful, slow "Dear Mary" positively shimmers in a haze of declared love, while the heavy drumbeats and rock riffing guitar of "Living in the U.S.A." are a powerful reminder that the Steve Miller Band, no matter what other paths they meandered down, could rock out with the best of them.

And, of course, this is the LP that introduced many to the classic "Gangster of Love," a song that would become almost wholly Miller's own, giving the fans an alter ego to caress long before "The Joker" arose to show his hand. Rounding out Miller's love of the blues is an excellent rendering of "You're So Fine." At their blues-loving best, Sailor is a classic Miller recording and a must-have — especially for the more contemporary fan, where it becomes an initiation into a past of mythic proportion.

"Song for Our Ancestors" "Dear Mary" "My Friend" "Living in the U.S.A." "Quicksilver Girl" "Lucky Man" "Gangster of Love" "You're So Fine" "Overdrive" "Dime-a-Dance Romance"
