ROLLING STONES "Their Satanic Majesties Request"

Up for purchase is the ROLLING STONES' "Their Satanic Majesties Request". This is the original, authentic, first U.S. pressing. The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording! Comes with the original inner sleeve. This is not a record club album, a reissue or counterfeit pressing and there's no Bar Code. This album is long out of print.

"Their Satanic Majesties Request" is the sixth British and eighth American studio album by the Rolling Stones. This classic album was the Stones' response to the Beatles' "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" and it brought us such songs as "She's a Rainbow" and "2000 Light Years from Home". This is the original issue album, printed in the USA by London Records in 1967 as a gatefold sleeve LP with a 3D lenticular picture glued to the front cover. Later editions replaced the glued-on three-dimensional image with a photograph due to costs. The entire cover design is elaborate, with a dense photo collage filling most of the inside cover (along with a maze) designed by Michael Cooper, and a painting by Tony Meevilwiffen on the back cover depicting the four elements (Earth, Water, Fire, and Air). In some editions, as in this one, the blue-and-white wisps on the front cover are used in a red-and-white version on the paper inner sleeve. The inner-cover collage has dozens of images, taken from reproductions of old master paintings (Ingres, Poussin, DaVinci), Indian mandalas and portraits, astronomy (including a large image of Saturn), flowers, world maps, etc.

Dead Wax (Stamped):

Front Side - ZAL-0126-1L Bell Sound

Back Side - ZAL-0127-1M Bell Sound

The album cover shows some shelf wear and is separated along the top of the back flap, and it has worn through in a couple of other places as well (see photos), as is to be expected for a record that is 47 years old. The red & white colored inner sleeve is in good condition, with a small pin hole in one corner being the only damage to it. The disc has some visible surface lines and and scuffing - it looks playable to me but I have no way to test. Worth buying for the beautiful artwork alone. Purchased by me over 20 years ago, an individual selling a personal collection, not a record store or dealer. One owner, from a smoke-free environment. Shipping is QUICK and FREE! Except for weekends, we ship the same day if purchased before noon, or the next day if after. Buy with confidence, your satisfaction is guaranteed by our flexible return policy and 100% positive feedback score.
