PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING:   USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire.   All Canadian and Overseas shipping ~ Please inquire about rates. MINTY CLEAN !!!! (check the condition below!)

RARE and very cool 1967 ORIGINAL small local North East original private pressing of a raunchy garage "battle" consisting of some top bands that never made it to vinyl other than maybe a one-off 45, if that....one of the *best* "Battle Of The Bands" albums around being so solid ... fuzzed-out primitive pounders running up and down BOTH sides...Many years ago was selling for $300 in collector circles...not getting any easier to find after 46 years....

This is a classic garage LP, with all the bands culled from Westchester County and the northern Bronx, New York.

For instance, one of the best songs on the record is undoubtedly 'the Traits' "High on a Cloud", an antisocial ode to chemical escape written by their singer, Mike Carrol.

I got a nickel bag, my eyes are drooping, they're starting to sag
Since you left me girl, well I think that life is a drag
I'll show you girl that you can't keep on running around
Because I'm high on a cloud and I ain't never coming down

Well you left me girl, with two feet down on the ground
I'll show you girl that you can't keep on running around
I'll get me a bag and I'll show you just what I can do
I'll get so high I'll wave goodbye to you

Cause I'm high on a cloud, high on a cloud,
High on a cloud, and I ain't comin' down no more

Another great original is the Henchmen's "Say," written by their guitarist and vocalist John Wallin. The drummer bashes away behind a leaden fuzz riff, segueing to a relatively complex bridge. Andy Porter lays down a good, crude "fuzz" solo, with nice tremolo at the end...

Like we advised, highlights are everywhere, including "Respect" by "The", followed by the Gyration's take on "Stepping Stone" and the Night Rider's version of "Jenny Take a Ride".

One of our faves is the lead off track by Raunch doing a wicked cool & growling primitive pounder called "Hungry" that almost gives the Paul Revere classic a run for its money...

as for others, there are a coupleof melodic groovers like "Lolly Pop Train" by the Mystics and "The Glass Toy" by the Reptiles, very catchy. The most out of touch with the times is "Angel Baby" by the Vectors of the Bronx, where Carol Pecchio's fine vocal performance is buried in echo behind the drums and bass. Some of the others including the Orphans out-of-tune vocals on the Byrds' "Feel a Whole Lot Better" delivers the 'charming' status that has good instrumental playing behind the slightly wacked vocals.
