This Auction is for a lovely, rare 1960's Mono LP

THE KINKS

 The Kink Kontroversy

PYE NPL.18131 Mono 1965 Made in Gt.Britain.

This is a 1st Press copy of the third Kinks album in original Mono.

Matrix No's are NPL 18131 A-1 and NPL 18131 B-1.

Tracks are: Side 1. Milk Cow Blues, Ring The Bells, Gotta Get The First Plane Home, When I See That Girl Of Mine, I Am Free, Till The End Of The Day.

Side 2. The World Keeps Going Round, I'm On An Island, Where Have All The Good Times Gone, It's Too Late, What's In Store For Me, You Can't Win.

Record condition: For a 50 year old Mono vinyl LP, it plays excellent with no excessive noise or nasty pops and crackles. Really surprising how an early Mono LP sounds in our modern digital era. The sound is warm and realistic. I find I have to crank up the volume to really get the overall impression, which I really enjoy. There are light surface marks and faint scratches visible, but nothing that spoils the overall sound or Mono experience. I grade the vinyl as Very Good.

Label condition:  The Pink Pye labels are both in very good condition with spindle marks showing around the hole on both sides. Side 2 has a silver finger mark by the hole, that looks as if it could be a bit of nail varnish or something similar.

Outer Sleeve/Cover:  Original laminated front flipback outer sleeve printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. The front is in fabulous condition. Apart from 2 or 3 tiny ripples in the middle towards the spine edge, the laminate still gleams and shines like new. There is no laminate lift at all. I think the front cover could be difficult to better. Corner wear is absolutely minimal. Fabulous. The rear flipback is unlaminated and plain white and has suffered from handling with grubbyness and finger marks especially on the left side towards the opening edge. I would have graded the sleeve excellent, but because of the marks on the rear I will grade it Very Good ++.

Spine condition: The spine itself is in very good condition. After all this time, it is still incredibly straight and square and just has one half inch piece of wear where the record number is printed.

Inner Sleeve: Original Pye advertising paper lined inner sleeve in excellent, original condition.

Summary:  Another classic, 1960's Kinks 1st Press album in lovely, original condition.

All my records are played and graded by the "Bible" Record Collector's Grading System. Please see below:-

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extras such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
