TOMAS GYE LP
SELF TITLED
TURKEY KNOB ORCHARD RECORDS
Very hard to find Private Label Psych record released in 1976. This LP preceded the LP Tomas Gye later recorded with Emerald City.
This LP also gets a favorable review on page 139 of “Acid Archives- The Second Edition” by Patrick Lundborg. Among the things Patrick writes about this record are, “Gye comes out blasting a double barreled 1970’s Brit-rock sound that belies the utter obscurity of this release. Despite the crude recording, side 1 displays rich Stones-Faces moves including good use of the Hammond organ, dramatic arrangements, and Guy’s heartfelt vocals. The Greer album is one point of reference but this is less slick and more organic”, and “(this LP was) Reportedly sold only at live gigs, not many copies of this have turned up”.
COVER: The cover grades VG.
VINYL: The record looks like it has had very little play and has no scratches, just a bit of superficial surface marking. It grades EX+.
DEAD WAX (Side 1): TN-13A
DEAD WAX (Side 2): TN-13B
All of our LP's are shipped in sturdy cardboard LP mailers with appropriate padding.
With the exception of sealed LP's, all LP's are removed from their outer sleeves to prevent seam splitting. Upon request, we will give your sealed LP's the same treatment.
All records are carefully graded. In an attempt to give customers an accurate impression of condition rather than adhere to somewhat arbitrary criteria, The Great Escape gives an "overall presentation" grade; we do not give a "listening" grade. Our vinyl listings are supplemented when necessary with additional remarks. For example: where some dealers will not allow a cut corner on an otherwise near mint jacket (often automatically relegating it to a VG+ at best), we may grade such a record as NM and note the cut-out mark (thereby letting you know what it "really" looks like: a near-perfect record with a cut corner). LPs are graded cover first, followed by the grade for the vinyl.
