RECORD GRADING Based On Goldmine Grading Standards:

Near Mint (NM): A nearly perfect record. There may be one or two small inaudible defects. The vinyl should show no obvious signs of wear.  An LP jacket should have no creases, folds, seam splits or any other noticeable defects. No cut-out slashes, or bb holes.

Near Mint Minus (NM-): A record that should play mint with maybe a slight visible mark or two. The surface will have the luster of a NM vinyl, there may be a superficial scuff from the sleeve or a very light hairline that should not be audible. A NM- album cover will be between VG+ and NM.

Very Good Plus (VG+): A Very Good Plus vinyl may show that it had been taken very good care of . Vinyl surfaces may show slight signs of wear and may have a slight scuff or two or very lightly scratched that will not  affect good playback. A very light warp that do not affect good sound is fine. The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. The center hole will not have been misshapen by repeated play.  An LP jacket may have slight signs of wear and may or may not have a cut-out hole, or saw cut  showing it was taken out of print

Very Good (VG): Some of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more noticeable. Ticking may be heard, especially in soft passages, but will not be overpowering. May begin to have some groove wear, but not too noticeable, as will light scratches (able to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels may have writing, or have tape residue from stickers. The same  for LP covers.

Good (G), Good Plus (G+): Good does not mean Bad! A vinyl in Good or Good Plus condition can be played though without skipping, but it will have sign heavy surface noise,  scratches and visible groove wear. A jacket  will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or top spine. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will be evident.

Poor (P), Fair (F): Below good.

all imperfections will be described in detail.
