PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so.              USA - lime green CAPITOL RECORDS - ST 692 (PROMO)

Always been rare...here an advanced release promotional = Original 1970 first pressing by this obscure  Texan-based rock outfit who later became known as Mother of Pearl. For the most part the album's pretty typical early seventies progressive/hard rock with strong vocals, good guitar and quite a lot of woodwind, It may interest fans of the progressive/hard rock genre...

Like similar hard to find hardrock Lp's on the rare lime green Capitol label, like Bang! , Head Over Heels , etc.... the lime green label was only in print some 18 months and obscure Lp's like PLUM NELLY were pressed only once. As a result, especially with Plum Nelly, demand has spiraled the value to over three figures even as of a few years ago...

John E. (Earl) Walker - lead guitar Ric Prince - lead vocalist Peter Harris - Bass Steve Ress - rhythm guitar and vocals Christopher Lloyd - drums

PLUM NELLY opened for many famous acts such as Bo Diddley, BB King, Buddy Guy, Jimi Hendrix, The Kinks, Savoy Brown, John Mayall, Fleetwood Mac, Rod Stewart and The Faces, Joe Cocker, Dr. John, Muddy Waters, Terry Reid and notibly at Carnegie Hall with The James Gang.

Featuring a series of extended tracks (only one out of six clocks in under four minutes), band originals such as 'Deception' and 'Carry On' are accessible rockers, sporting occasional progressive touches. Lead singer Ric Prince has a decent voice ('Carry On') that fits in well with  Earl Walker's chunky lead guitar moves ('Lonely Man's Cry') and the intense hard rocker 'Demon'.  In terms of talent, these guys were clearly above most of their competition; a fact made even more impressive given they were still in their teens. Judging by the back cover, these guys look like your conventional hard rock quintet, so the flute solo opening in 'Deception' comes as a surprise. In spite of the progressive opening, the song quickly picks up speed, turning into a more conventional power ballad. It also served to showcase Prince's voice in a nice context.  Drummer Lloyd's sole contribution to the album, complete with Latin percussion and a fantastic Santana-influenced guitar solo, 'Carry On' delivers a nice funky shuffle.   As noted above, 'Demon' is easily the album's standout performance. Sporting a great melody and Prince's best vocal, this one starts out tough and simply gets better and better as it goes along.
Yet another strong cut is the bluesy-rocker'Lonely Man's Cry' contains a freaked-out flute solo at the end. Clocking in at ten minutes, the album's opus, 'Sail Away' features a bit of everything, including sensitive singer/songwriter moves, hard rock segments, Allman Brothers-styled guitar solos, and more whirling flute with a crunching heavyrock opening segment. 'Never Done' is powered by some nice guitar, yet probably the album's most accessible performance, sporting a highly catchy melody. Drummer Lloyd is the song's secret weapon. The band recorded  "Deceptive Lines" November through December 1970, and it was released in 1971.   Finding a copy (let alone one in decent condition) is a surprisingly tough challenge.   I DECEPTION - 9:00 CARRY ON - 7:04 THE DEMON - 6:57  II LONELY MAN'S CRY 7:02 SAIL AWAY - 10:00 NEVER DONE - 3:04
