For seventeen years, from 1961 through 1977, The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company graced each Christmas season with an album of holiday favorites by various artists. For the first nine years, the albums always had the same title: "The Great Songs of Christmas." In 1970, the album was called "The Best of the Great Songs of Christmas" and featured songs already included in prior releases. I am selling seven albums from this series. The records feature all of the great artists of the day: Percy Faith, Eileen Farrell, Burl Ives, Mitch Miller, Robert Goulet, Julie Andrews, Barbra Streisand, Andy Williams, Johnny Mathis, Bing Crosby, Ray Conniff, Tony Bennett, Leonard Bernstein and so many more it is impossible to name them all.
All of the covers are in excellent condition with sharp corners and almost no signs of wear. Album 1 has a small split (less than 2 inches) on the top seam. Album 10 has some light spots. Several of the albums have the album number written on the front cover and Album 2 also has a tiny bit of writing on the back cover. However, you can see from the photos that all of the covers are in really great condition.
The albums were produced for Goodyear by Columbia Special Products and are high quality pressings on heavy vinyl. All of the vinyl is in very good condition and Album 8 is still in the original factory sealed shrink wrap! I play tested all of the records (with the exception of the sealed one) to ensure there are no skips. There is a bit of surface noise on some of the records but it doesn’t overpower the music and the records all sound amazing. This is a really great collection of timeless Christmas classics that you are sure to enjoy.
