You are bidding for a rare UK original Columbia SAX Stereo LP featuring Nathan Milstein on one of his rarest UK releases.

This is an original UK Stereo pressing in a front laminated Stereo flipback sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl and has turquoise blue & silver Columbia labels. It has 1st press S1 35783-B8 and S2 35783-A5 matrix numbers.

The full details are as follows:

Columbia SAX 2508 – with original Blue (turquoise) and Silver ES1 labels

BEETHOVEN violin concerto in D, Op. 6I

NATHAN MILSTEIN (Violin), The Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by ERICH LEINSDORF

Matrix Numbers S1 35783-B8, S2 35783-A5

Year 1962

Sleeve: There is some light soiling to the front edge where the laminate finishes slightly short, a minor knock to both bottom corners and what I would describe as normal wear and tear for a 50+ year old record. I have included a selection of photos which I hope show both the positive and negative aspects, but overall, I would describe the sleeve as being in really nice collectable condition which I would describe as Ex.

Vinyl: Visually both the vinyl and labels look great. There is no visible evidence of spindle marking and the high gloss vinyl has just a few very light marks, the worse being a hairline scratch on side 2 about 1cm long. The record has been fully play tested and it plays superbly - through speakers it sounds great with no issues to note, when listening intently on headphones for defects there is some very light background noise as each side runs in / out and during some of the quietest sections along with the very occasional click or pop, but really this is a great copy with nothing serious to spoil the listening experience. Overall, I would grade this as Ex (possibly Ex- at times).

The company inner sleeve completes the package, this shows some creasing and has a 10cm seam split to one side, but it is still a nice original addition to the overall package.

Overall then I would grade this rare and collectable record as Ex/Ex (vinyl/sleeve) which I am listing without a high buy it now or reserve price, so this is an opportunity to buy this superb record of one of Nathan Milstein's best performances at the price set by the market.
