MINT CLEAN
1970 DELIVERED FIRST LP :::: HARD HEAVY MEAN AND EVIL!!!
RARE BRITISH RELEASED COLLECTIBLE
MINTY CLEAN ALL OVER ! One of the BEST copies you'll ever hope to find ...final collection archive copy!!!
ORIGINAL 1970 FIRST pressing of the very first BUDGIE album on the KAPP label ...a mighty powerful heavy rocker that delivers not only a cool sound throughout but one of sheer power....
One
of the best heavy hard rock FIRST albums to come out of the UK early
'70s. The Welsh power trio Budgie came roaring out of the gate
swaggering with blood and thunder. And at that time they had very little
competition for their band of bludgeoning heaviness. Only bands like
Black Sabbath, Bang!, Sir Lord Baltimore and the like were in Budgies'
level for sheer heaviness. What set Budgie apart from the pack though
was the thumping bass of Berke Shelly with his unique vocals. Include
the fiery Guitars of Tony Bourge and driving drummingby Ray Philips with
killer self composed tunes and you've a winner for the ages.... Most of
the tunes are amazing highlighted by stuff like the heavy jams of "Rape
Of The Locks" and "The Author." Not to forget the brutish "Homicidal
Suicidal." Thuggish heavies up and down both sides! Widely
influential on the development on the metal scene that came some 10
years later, beloved by a certain sect of record collectors, yet largely
unknown in the world-at-large, this Welsh group’s early sound was
concocted of doomy Sabbath riffs, pummeling Zeppelinesque blues,
adventuresome albeit somewhat amateurish song arrangements, and leavened
with a quirky sense of humour as evinced by song titles like “Nude
Disintegrating Parachutist Woman” and “Rape of the Locks” (an ode to
resistance in the face of a woman’s urge to cut her guy’s hair).
The
first BUDGIE, recorded by original Black Sabbath producer Rodger Bain,
is a no-frills attempt at a live sound, was an interesting attempt to
capture Tony Bourge’s dense, crushing riffs, the plodding drumming of
Ray Phillips, and the plucky bass and high-pitched voice of frontman
Burke Shelley. Overall, a really unique knack for classic heavy riffs
and hooks that puts them in the upper ranks of hard-rock music.
