(轉載網上文字) 故事講述丁求實為了最後一年大學學費而在沈家當起家庭教師﹐他與鄰家食店的女兒周鶯因為誤會而成為歡喜冤家。某日沈家少爺傳慶回家帶同女友李安琳探望雙親﹐之後開車回上海去。然而周鶯與丁求實因起爭執而故意躲在沈傳慶車中﹐沒想到直到車開了﹐周鶯與丁求實想叫停車也沒辦法。終於抵達上海﹐她從車尾箱走出來﹐卻發現衣服已被車箱割破﹐幸好沈傳慶的家丁老趙路過﹐趕忙把她護送到少爺家中﹐並把少爺的睡衣取來﹐讓她暫時穿上﹐然後他們藉著周鶯所示的地址到同學黃雪芬家借衣服。 至於丁求實追到上海來﹐只是沈傳慶趕著開會﹐沒跟他多聊幾句﹐更不清楚周鶯的下落﹐使他心急如焚。此時老趙已從家借來衣服﹐碰巧街上有強盜﹐他便被誤會是賊﹐送到警局中通宵扣留。李安琳因為想著男友﹐打電話到沈傳慶家中﹐卻發現有陌生女生接聽電話﹐周鶯趕忙掛線﹐然而李安琳已起疑心﹐以為男友對她不忠。丁求實回到家中﹐得知周鶯有要好同學黃雪芬在上海﹐於是又匆匆趕到上海來。黃雪芬指稱周鶯托人來借衣服﹐並確定她在沈傳慶家中。剛巧跟李安琳碰面﹐兩人都認為沈傳慶立心把周鶯藏起來。沈傳慶沒想到把兩人打發走後﹐才發現周鶯真藏在家裡的衣櫃中的。然而丁﹑李兩人在門口賴著不走﹐沈傳慶又不能出外替周鶯借衣服﹐周鶯穿著他的睡衣﹐更容易惹起陣陣偷情疑雲。終於他惟在在鄰家偷衣服﹐可憐卻給逮個正著﹐四人終於碰面﹐幸好老趙獲釋﹐才把事情始末解釋清楚。 這套電影嚴格來說可分兩部份﹐上半部乃是周璇與嚴化從誤會到認識﹐再發展到互生情愫的局面﹐直到電影下半部﹐才發展出一個錯摸的喜劇故事。嚴化原名姜克琪﹐乃是演員秦沛及姜大衛的父親﹐從電影中嚴化的喜劇演繹中﹐不難發現秦沛的演技有著父親的神髓。至於周璇在這部電影中﹐一共演唱了6首歌曲﹐歌曲全數被灌錄成4張留聲唱片。筆者從小就接觸這批插曲﹐欣賞這部電影最有趣之處﹐莫過於把熟識的歌曲與陌生的電影場面連結起來。
