I found this really interesting record at the estate sale of a local classic rock music collector I had gone to high school with in the 70’s. Apparently, this is a test pressing from the soundtrack of the Carlo Ponti movie “Blow up” from 1966. Each side of the record has two songs on it, one of which,”Psycho Daisies”, was written by Jeff Beck. The Yardbirds are billed on the label as “ Metropolis Blues Quintet “, which must have been the bands name in the movie. The sleeve is just a mimeographed black and white paper folded inside a clear vinyl sleeve. The record itself looks like brand new! I don’t think this was ever intended to sell, and I don’t think it was ever played. The serial numbers are PRO 4447 ST . With the record was a old photograph of The Yardbirds. After a lot of digging I was able to place the picture. It was taken at the Grande Ballroom in Michigan in 1968, not long before the band broke up for good, and Jimmy Page moved on to start Led Zeppelin. I have no idea who took it or if it was ever published. I have also listed several other cool pieces from the same sale, so please check out my other auctions.
If you check out my reviews, you will see that I take pride in finding truly authentic and exceptional items, then try to make sure they go where they will be valued and preserved for future generations. This is not my job- it is my hobby and my mission. (Of course, the money is nice too, even though most of it goes back into buying more treasures!) Please ask any questions you may have before bidding and I will answer them as best I can. I do not accept returns unless the item has been misrepresented in my description, so I strive for accuracy. I charge a flat shipping rate which includes postage, insurance, materials, and tracking, time and travel, so please consider this when bidding.
