PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

STILL IN ORIGINAL FACTORY CELLOPHANE GATEFOLD

+ 12 PHOTO PAGES  (inbound photos)

you won't find a better copy!!!

1973 first press thick textured gatefold cover with 12 page color band photos in-bound to the gatefold cover ... A great re-discovery LP which provides many memorable melodies upon repeat listens ...

As with Ram, this album's idiosyncrasies are, with hindsight, responsible for much of its charm and excellence.  This is sleeper LP for many -- everything on side 1 except "One More Kiss" is very good (no wonder; tracks 1, 3 and 5 reputedly go back to Ram), and the three non-medley songs on Side 2 are near-great.  "Single Pigeon" and "When The Night" are understated and appealing, with very nice melodies and lyrics that work (i.e. complement the music and don't get in the way).  "Loup" is the kind of experimentation at which McCartney excels, and which he probably would have done a lot more of with a band that challenged him.  The only weak spots are the pedestrian, retro "One More Kiss"  and the medley (which still has its moments, especially "Lazy Dynamite", whose harmonies are irresistibly seductive).

As for the sound, it's just great.  Paul's production has never sounded better.  Lush, painstakingly produced:  had the medley been good, some reviewers would have called this a minor Abbey Road instead of making the comparison derisively.  "Big Barn Bed" is amazingly arranged, with a climax that's impossible to describe; headphones essential.  If you listen closely, he's singing "ananda, oo-ee" -- "ananda" being "bliss" in Sanskrit, and that certainly fits the spirit of the song.  Typical for Paul to be understated but sophisticated in such matters.  "Get On The Right Thing" is a delight, playfully and masterfully soulful, with that irie, infectious Ram euphoria.  "Little Lamb Dragonfly" is a pastoral medley adorned with the kind of heavenly background vocals one would expect.  So lovely and poignant; could the dragonfly that he so misses be John?  "My Love" divides listeners, but I bought the single as a kid and have always loved the melody and that weird "meeee" at the end.  And the bonus tracks on some editions are great.... classic hits and B-sides, like "Hi Hi Hi", Paul's "mission statement" for the decade.

Not without flaws, but on the whole an excellent album thanks to the best half-dozen songs and McCartney's unsurpassed mastery of the studio.  It went to #1 in the U.S., and I don't think that was only because of Paul's fame or the smash hit "My Love".  Those factors probably put it over the top, but this is very strong on its own (enough to have gone Top 10 coming from any artist), and due for the same re-evaluation that Ram had enjoyed.  In fact, if you collect the better tracks from this album along with the contemporaneous singles "Hi Hi Hi" and "Live And Let Die", you get a set of songs that stands alongside Ram and Band On The Run without apology.
