COVER: VG+
RECORD: NM-
I use basic NM / EX / VG+ / VG / G grading line and never mention M ('Mint') for a vintage record. The highest grade is NM that assumes vinyl or sleeve to be in best possible shape with no visible/audible imperfections. I usually add + or - icon to specify condition of particular item.
For 78 rpm records there's is only visual inspection availible, sorry.EX : Still shiny record has light signs of wear, a couple of inaudible light scuffs, light scratches or inner sleeve marks. Occasional mild background noise or inherent surface noise allowed during playback, but record contains no more than a few minor only issues.
VG+ : Some more wear, light scratches and/or scuffs: album plays with surface noise and/or light crackle or light clicks at times. Still is very enjoyable and reasonable for a collector item.
VG : Scratches and scuffs. Album plays with some more surface noise (crackle and/or pops/clicks). No skipped or repeat grooves allowed.
G : Throughout wear, scuffs or scratches, still with no serious damages. Album is playable but with much surface noise, crackle and/or distorsions; probable skips or repeats also.
