For a long time, the Reissues were announced. In 2014, the time has come: you are here. At the end of May albums "I" to "III" were released, and from October 2014 "IV" is available, also known as "Zoso", "Four Symbols" or "Untitled".
Bands and labels ticked even faster in the 1960s and 70s. Led Zeppelin published one LP after another in their early years. Three longplayer within 15 months, which is breathtaking for today's conditions. Since Led Zeppelin also frequently performed live, emerged in the period from 1968 to summer 1972, even all the songs for the first six albums.
The LPs "I" and "II" were commercially successful and extremely successful on the charts when they were released. "III" did not fare well in the press and also among the fans. Although the LP quickly topped the charts in the US and the UK, sales fell sharply after an initial high. Somehow, Zevpelin was taken aback that not every album was the same and sounded the same. This in turn annoyed Jimmy Page, who then did not speak to the press for two years. And it led to the fourth album without title and without any accompanying texts appeared.
Therefore, there are several titles for "IV": "Zoso", "Four Symbols" or simply "Untitled". Many Led Zeppelin fans consider the fourth album as the best of the band from today's perspective. The absolute sales figures confirm that: Among the best-selling albums of all time in the US it ranks third. "IV" is a perfect mix of hard and soft, light and dark. With "Stairway To Heaven" it contains the most famous number of Led Zeppelin ever, while "Black Dog" is the essence of what made the individual musicians of Led Zeppelin.
In the first digital versions of Led Zeppelin's albums, which were released in the mid-1980s, Jimmy Page does not sound good in interviews. In his opinion, the sound is too undifferentiated, since the CDs were produced from poorly mixed versions of the songs. That does not meet the quality requirements of a world-class band. And since today the possibilities of digital remastering for all formats are highly developed, the wait has been absolutely worth it. Anyway, that means Jimmy Page and begs all fans to hear the Reissues under no circumstances as MP3.
Under the aegis of Page himself, the digitally prepared, newly mixed version of »IV« was created. The basis of the re-issues are the original analog studio tapes of 1970 / 71. In remastering, the guiding idea for Page was that the albums were then recorded for vinyl and that there are now a variety of sound carrier formats, all of which are justified and the Remaster should therefore meet.
On the deluxe edition of Led Zeppelin »IV« the songs of the original album are also included in previously unpublished alternative mixes. "Misty Mountain Hop" and "Four Sticks" and mandolin and guitar-heavy mixes from "The Battle Of Evermore" and "Going To California". The absolute highlight is the alternative version of "Stairway To Heaven": mixed in the Sunset Sound Studios in Los Angeles, one of Rock's most famous songs unfolds a new life in this mix.
The following points convinced the buyers of the Reissues 2014 »I«, »II«, »III«:
Differentiated and transparent sound quality Ambience : Every instrument can be easily localized New insights : to hear details well Valuable bonus material : accompanying LPs or CDs Original cover of the first edition (only Super Deluxe Edition) Never seen photos (Book of the Super Deluxe Edition). No matter if you are a devoted fan of Led Zeppelin or a friend of high quality remasterings of rock classics: There are many reasons to choose Led Zeppelin for "IV".
