This is an authentic Ghana African album from the mid 70's, not released anywhere else. The vocals are decidedly kinda crazed in style and delivery backed by an effective low-fi organ, guitar, bass and drums combo. The rhythm and lead guitar work is moving constantly.

"The music of F. Kenya POWER HOUSE is (in my humble opinion) some of the most stunning Ghanaian highlife ever recorded, music with a unique sound characterized by deep Akan harmonies, sweet organs, and heartbreakingly beautiful vocals drenched with wah-wah/reverb/tremelo guitar all over the place. The Power House, released on the Ghana Essiebons Records label in 1976, is Francis Kenya's second and best full length record. Like Kenya's other work, these songs are beautifully arranged, with rich musical textures that feature an interplay between interlocking guitar parts and organ lines. In addition, these songs are unique in that they are sung in Nzema (Kenya's own language) rather than the dominant Asante Twi (generally the language of highlife). The Nzema are an Akan ethnic group found on both sides of the Southern Ghana/Côte d'Ivoire border.  As in the context of other African countries, boundaries imposed by European colonizers frequently divided ethnically similar groups across arbitrary national borders."

CONDITION: The cover: Rated: VERY THIN and delicate. Most African covers from the 70s like this are wasted away, torn, frayed, and sometimes nothing but barely remains. This copy is solid when rating '70s originals from Ghana. Still very colorful. has some light handling crinkles around the edges but that's nothing comparatively speaking when considered lucky to get in this shape, rated: VG++ has a word on back cover and light age spotting, nothing strong (see photo). The seams are solid, no seam splits, no faded colors, no delete marks...light signs of visible past use and nothing extreme or even close.    

The vinyl: Rated: VG++ and plays with excellent audio! Overall full of bright shine and overall played very enjoyable here - and should for you as well. Both Essibonds labels are very clean (no writing!)  in solid shape, no writing or dirt/soil...a bit of very minor outer label edge peel was beginning.

                      A cool addition to anyone's music library!
