SAUDADES is an original, 1992, factory sealed LP. Rare, excellent music content, NOT JUST ANOTHER audiophile LP. There is a worldwide demand for this LP. Finally, collectors have discovered this obscure but AMAZING title.
  This music is an interesting and unique blend of Afro-Brazilian and Afro-American funky rhythm. It has percussion, horns and vocals, plus some Brazilian instruments. Because of my inability to characterize the music in any type of "conventional category", plus its sound quality, I had to create a special category for it to receive its proper recognition: Audiophile Funky Brazilian?   This LP was recorded during the time Dom Um Romao was playing with Weather Report.

The sound on this record is absolutely breathtaking in its immediacy and dynamic qualities. It is natural and has a "large sound". It also has a very low sound-floor, and with plenty of inner and outer detail. The LP was recorded and released in 1992, and it has been out of print for more than 15 years. We were lucky to find a few original pressings since the producers wanted it to use only one stamper, and one step plating process, for all LPs. It can not be reissue...it will not sound the same.

The LP is one of those monster audiophile LPs that made it into a few of the "experts" lists; besides the outstanding sound, and being amazingly musical, the LP showcases the performances of Dom Um Romao, Chico Freeman. and other exceptional Jazz and Brazilian musicians.

What a shame and a tragedy that most labels no longer make LPs. Considering that even this dynamite record never received the proper reviews and the esteem that it deserved, is that surprising? Needles to say, this recording is ultra rare...try to find a copy on LP or CD.
