Matthew Doty was better known for once collaborating with none other than Josh Tillman (Father John Misty) in a group labouring under the name Saxon Shore. He recently heard the news that he was going to be a father and set about working on a solo project Deserta so he could tick it off the list before his priority becomes changing nappies and not sleeping. It's a widescreen shoegaze -influenced effort that brings to mind Sigur Ros, the Cocteau Twins and the Cure.
