The Concert For Bangla Desh was put together by George Harrison and was held on August 1, 1971 at Madison Square Garden in NYC. It raised funds to help feed the famine ravaged country of Bangla Desh and sparked the birth of socially conscious fund-raising concerts. George was joined by Ravi Shankar, Leon Russell, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Billy Preston, Badfinger, and a host of the era's best session musicians like Jim Keltner and Carl Radle.
The heavy duty tan inner sleeves are in excellent condition as is the box with the exception of a very small split on one corner of the top. I grade the discs and the packaging as VG+ which is as high as I go on vintage vinyl. The 64-page booklet is pristine with the exception of some pin holes in the corners of some pages and the removal of its binding staples. Please see the pictures.
This boxed set was released as Apple STCX 3385 and is from the initial 1971 first pressings which were the only ones to have a bright orange interior on the box.
In addition to its original packaging, this album will come with high quality Anti-Static Round Bottom Sleeves to hold each of the 3 vinyl discs.
Free shipping is included in the special corrugated album mailer seen in the last picture.
These vintage 12" vinyl albums has been sitting upright on a shelf in climate controlled storage for the past 49 years. It has not been played in decades other than a quick test spin for this sale which found no skips or obvious flaws. Like all used records it should be cleaned with an anti-static brush to minimize the occasional pops that are part of playing vinyl albums. Buyers should note that this is a well-cared for but used record and it will have some minor imperfections.
