Following the breakup of Buffalo Springfield, Neil Young released his self-titled debut album in 1968 on Reprise Records. It featured the hit single "The Loner."
This copy (RS 6317) is from the first pressing after Neil's name was added to the front cover. This is a rare early copy that was recorded using the Haeco-CSG encoding system. That technology was intended to make stereo recordings play better on mono systems but Neil did not like it because he felt it degraded the sound. The album cover is over 50-years-old but is still easily VG+ and the disc test plays cleanly and is also VG+ which is as high as I go on vintage vinyl.  The Side 1 dead wax is etched 30817 RS 6317 A-1B RE-1.
In addition to its original packaging, this album will come with a high quality Anti-Static Round Bottom Sleeve to hold the vinyl disc and a sturdy 3 mil. polyethylene Archival Quality Outer Sleeve.
Free shipping is included in the special corrugated album mailer seen in the last picture.
This vintage 12" vinyl album has been sitting upright on a shelf in climate controlled storage for the past 52 years. It has not been played in decades other than a quick test spin for this sale which found no skips or obvious flaws. Like all used records it should be cleaned and wiped with an anti-static brush to minimize the occasional pops that are part of playing vinyl albums. Buyers should note that this is a well-cared for but used record and it will have some minor imperfections.
