The Who released "Meaty Beaty Big And Bouncy" in October 1971. It is a compilation of hit singles on Decca Records. It includes early hits like "I Can't Explain" and "Happy Jack" along with seminal tracks like "My Generation," "Substitute," "Magic Bus," and "Pinball Wizard." The gatefold picture is of the Railway Hotel in London, which legend has it, is noted for being the first place Pete Townshend smashed his guitar. Actually he accidentally broke the neck and then in a fury bashed it on the floor. The audience loved it and the rest is history.
This copy (DL-79184) is from the first pressing and is in very good condition. The sleeve has minor ring wear but is still easily VG+. Please see the pictures. The disc test plays cleanly and I rate it VG+ which is as high as I go on vintage vinyl. It was pressed at the Capitol Records plant in Los Angeles and the Side 1 dead wax is stamped 7 12934 E8 1 ✲ 2.
In addition to its original packaging, this album will come with a high quality Anti-Static Round Bottom Sleeve to hold the vinyl disc and a sturdy 3 mil. polyethylene Archival Quality Outer Sleeve.
Free shipping is included in the special corrugated album mailer seen in the last picture.
This vintage 12" vinyl album has been sitting upright on a shelf in climate controlled storage for the past 49 years. It has not been played in decades other than a quick test spin for this sale which found no skips or obvious flaws. Like all used records it should be cleaned and wiped with an anti-static brush to minimize the occasional pops that are part of playing vinyl albums. Buyers should note that this is a well-cared for but used record and it will have some minor imperfections.
