Charles "Barron" Mingus 78 - He’s Gone / Story of Love - Fentone 53281. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Media Mail.
For sale is an extremely rare 78 rpm record by Charles "Barron" Mingus and His Symphonic Airs. Side one contains "He's Gone," and side two contains "Story of Love." This is from Charles Mingus was still in California and went by "Barron" or "Baron" Mingus. These Fentone Records recordings are very rare, and they barely even appear on discogs. (I also have a second Mingus 78 on Fentone ("Pennies from Heaven" and "Lyon's Roar") up for sale. Check my other listings.)
I am a just a record collector. I'm not a store. And I don't usually collect, play, or sell 78s. As such, it is difficult for me to grade these 78s. So, to provide an best description I can, I took many photos in the bright sunlight. Those photos reveal numerous scratches and scuffs. Based on those photos, I did not expect the record to play well. I then played the record on a Dual 1229 turntable using a Shure M91ED cartridge with a Shure N91 stylus for playing 78s. When I played it, it sounded much better than I anticipated. Still, because I am not entirely sure how well (or not well) a 78s commonly plays, I used my iPhone to record the sound coming out of my speakers, and I put the videos up on youtube. The videos can be found here:

Quite frankly, I think both sides sound pretty good. Regardless, I believe the records are extremely rare in any condition.
I have successfully shipped 78s before using the method by which several layers or cardboard are taped around the record, to create a so-called "sandwich," with the record in the middle. I then will pack the record in a box with bubble wrap and other packing material.
I ship domestically using USPS media mail. And I ship overseas ONLY through eBay's Global Shipping Program, which calculates the shipping charges and any customs fees. For details and estimates for eBay's Global Shipping Program, please visit eBay's website.
