Paul McCartney released his fifth post-Beatles album "Band On The Run" in December 1973 on Apple Records. It was his third album with Wings as his backing band which had been reduced to just Linda McCartney and Denny Laine by the time they arrived at the EMI studios in Lagos, Nigeria. McCartney played bass as usual but also drums and most of the guitar parts on the album. In addition to the title track it includes "Jet" and "Helen Wheels."
This copy (SO--3415) is from the first pressing and is in very good condition. It includes the original 27" x 21" Polaroid Snapshots Poster and original lyrics inner sleeve both of which are pristine. The cover has only slight ring and edge wear and I rate it VG+. Please see the pictures. The disc plays cleanly and I rate it VG+ which is as high as I go on vintage vinyl. The dead wax on Side 1 is etched with 1-3415-F-15** and it was mastered by Wally Taugot (WLY) at Capitol Records.
In addition to its original packaging, this album will come with a high quality Anti-Static Round Bottom Inner Sleeve to hold the vinyl disc and a sturdy 3 mil. polyethylene Archival Quality Outer Sleeve.
Free shipping is included in the special corrugated album mailer seen in the last picture.
This vintage 12" vinyl album has been sitting upright on a shelf in climate controlled storage for the past 47 years. It has not been played in decades other than a quick test spin for this sale which found no skips or obvious flaws. Like all used records it should be cleaned and wiped with an anti-static brush to minimize the occasional pops that are part of playing vinyl albums. Buyers should note that this is a well-cared for but used record and it will have some minor imperfections.
