John Lennon released his second studio album "Imagine" in September 1971 on Apple Records. It was produced by Phil Spector and the title track is widely considered Lennon's signature song. It hit No. 1 in both the U.S. and U.K. charts. Although the front cover and spine credits just John Lennon, the disc labels also include Plastic Ono Band (with The Flux Fiddlers).
This copy (SW 3379) if from the first pressing and is in excellent condition. It is still in its original factory shrink wrap, and along with the original inner lyrics sleeve, is easily VG+. The Side 1 disc features a custom Apple label with John's face. It is etched with SW-1-3379 Z16 ─◃ (indicating it was pressed at Capitol's plant in Winchester, VA). It is stamped with Bell Sound sf which indicates it was mastered by Bell's Sam Feldman. The disc test plays cleanly and is VG+ which is as high as I rate vintage vinyl.
In addition to its original packaging, this album will come with a high quality Anti-Static Round Bottom Inner Sleeve to hold the vinyl disc and a sturdy 3 mil. polyethylene Archival Quality Outer Sleeve.
Free shipping is included in the special corrugated album mailer seen in the last picture.
This vintage 12" vinyl album has been sitting upright on a shelf in climate controlled storage for the past 49 years. It has not been played in decades other than a quick test spin for this sale which found no skips or obvious flaws. Like all used records it should be cleaned and wiped with an anti-static brush to minimize the occasional pops that are part of playing vinyl albums. Buyers should note that this is a well-cared for but used record and it will have some minor imperfections.
