Eric Clapton released his eighth solo studio album "Money And Cigarettes" in February 1983 on his own Warner Bros. imprint Duck Records. It was produced by Tom Dowd and was Slowhand's first release after his first rehab stint as he struggled with alcoholism. There were four singles released from the album; "I've Got A Rock N' Roll Heart," "The Shape You're In," "Slow Down Linda," and "Everybody Oughta Make A Change."
This promo copy (9 23773-1) is from the first pressing and is in excellent condition. The cover and inner lyrics sleeve still have their gloss and are easily VG+. The disc test plays cleanly and is also VG+ which is as high as I go on vintage vinyl. It was mastered by Sheffield Lab Matrix (△ 3300) and the lacquer was cut by Mike Fuller at Criteria Recording Studios in Miami. This copy was pressed by Allied Record Company in Los Angeles. The dead wax on Side 1 is etched 1-23773-A-SH-2 ɑ [Allied logo] B-17572-SH2 △ 3300 SLM Criteria MF 1-1 (except for Criteria which is stamped.)
In addition to its original packaging, this album will come with a high quality Anti-Static Round Bottom Inner Sleeve to hold the vinyl disc and a sturdy 3 mil. polyethylene Archival Quality Outer Sleeve.
Free shipping is included in the special corrugated album mailer seen in the last picture.
This vintage 12" vinyl album has been sitting upright on a shelf in climate controlled storage for the past 38 years. It has not been played in decades other than a quick test spin for this sale which found no skips or obvious flaws. Like all used records it should be cleaned and wiped with an anti-static brush to minimize the occasional pops that are part of playing vinyl albums. Buyers should note that this is a well-cared for but used record and it will have some minor imperfections.
