Singer/keyboardist  and guitarist  founded the group, adding  mates  on drums and Veeder Van Dorn on rhythm guitar, plus bassist . Originally dubbed Chocolate Hair, the band lost Van Dorn after just a few months when he joined Mescalero Space Kit. On the strength of their demos, the band was signed to Liberty, and changed their name to , after a Colorado mountain popular with skiers (the record company was concerned about the possible racial overtones of Chocolate Hair).  recorded their self-titled debut album in 1970, and the single "Green-Eyed Lady" -- co-written by  and based on a piece of a scale exercise in a practice book -- slowly became a nationwide hit, catching on in more and more markets until it finally peaked at number three on the pop charts.
I DO NOT SELL ANYTHING THAT IS NOT PLAYABLE ALL MY VINYL IS GRADED HARSHLY AND IS BETTER THAN WHAT I GRADE THEM AS. THE COVERS ARE SOMETIMES WORN BUT THE VINYL IS ALWAYS VERY NICE.
VINYL GRADING: NM - Hardly ever use unless the record has never hardly been played at all or is new  VG+ - play tested on good turntable to play w/o skips but might have a hairline or two but no major scratches VG - Has minor scratches and some noise but plays fine no skips on GOOD TURNTABLE G+ - has a skip and a few scratches but ok and playable Nothing I sell will be non playable or have more than one minor skip
COVER GRADING: NM - In shrink wrap with no bad spots on cover and edges are not worn VG+ - some fading or some edge wear but all in tact and good color VG - Some major edge or fading problems but all ok  G+ - some tape or edge problem like cut corners, holes, staining, names of owners,or any other major defect similar to these.
