For the reissue, Bob Ludwig's original album was remastered from the original tapes. Brian May supervised the work. 

The new edition appears in various formats: as a CD in a digipak with a 12-page booklet with rare photos and album notes, as a double CD in a 6-panel digipak with the album and a bonus CD with alternative versions, B-sides and Live -Tracks and a 24-page booklet with rare photos and album notes, as an LP on 180 g heavy black vinyl with a printed inner pocket and as a Limited Collectors Edition box set. This comes in a 12ʺ box set with the double CD in wallets and enamel badges as well as a 24-page 12ʺ booklet and a 180 g white vinyl.
The album was recorded between 1988 and 1992 at Allerton Hill Studios and mixed at Metropolis Studios. May played most of the instruments himself. There are guest appearances on the album by Cozy Powell and Deep Purples Don Airey and Queens John Deacon.
