Blues Brothers released their debut album "Briefcase Full Of Blues" in November 1978 on Atlantic Records. It is a live recording of their September 9, 1978 show at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles where Joliet Jake Blues (John Belushi) and Ellwood Blues (Dan Aykroyd) were the surprise opening act for comedian Steve Martin. They were backed by an all-star band that included Steve Cropper, Paul Shaffer, Matt "Guitar" Murphy, Tom Scott, and Donald "Duck" Dunn. The album hit No. 1 on the charts and is one of the best selling blues albums of all time.
This rare DJ Promo copy of (SD 19217) is from the First Pressing and is in excellent condition. The cover easily grades VG+ and the only markings are the highlight circles around the radio emphasis tracks "Rubber Biscuit" and "Soul Man" made on the timing sticker by the Atlantic promo department. Please see the pictures. The disc test plays cleanly and is also VG+ which is as high as I go on vintage vinyl. It was mastered by Ian "Cookie" Cooper at Sterling Sound and this copy was pressed by Monarch Record Mfg. Co. in Los Angeles. The Side One dead wax is etched STA 784191-BB MR ∆23986 (2) (PR) and stamped STERLING.
In addition to its original packaging, this album will come with a high quality Anti-Static Round Bottom Inner Sleeve to hold the vinyl disc and a sturdy 3 mil. polyethylene Archival Quality Outer Sleeve.
Free shipping is included in the special corrugated album mailer seen in the last picture.
This vintage 12" vinyl album has been sitting upright on a shelf in climate controlled storage for the past 43 years. It has not been played in decades other than a quick test spin for this sale which found no skips or obvious flaws. Like all used records it should be cleaned and wiped with an anti-static brush to minimize the occasional pops that are part of playing vinyl albums. Buyers should note that this is a well-cared for but used record and it will have some minor imperfections.
