Johnny Cash released his first live album "At Folsom Prison" in May 1968 on Columbia Records. He played two shows on January 13, 1968 and this recording is from the first show except for two tracks from the second. In addition to June Carter, the backing musicians included Carl Perkins, The Statler Brothers, and his usual band The Tennessee Three. It reached No. 1 on the country charts, but more importantly it was a Top 20 pop album that along with the single "Folsom Prison Blues" revitalized his career.
This copy of (CS 9639) is in exceptional condition for a 53-year-old record. The cover still has its original Factory Shrink Wrap firmly attached and is in Near-Mint condition with only the slightest edge wear. The initials written on the front are actually on the shrink wrap and not the cover but there is some on the Side One disc label. Please see the pictures. The disc test plays nearly perfectly and is easily VG+ which is as high as I go on vintage vinyl. It was mastered by Customatrix and this copy was pressed at the Columbia Records plant in Santa Maria, Calif. The Side One dead wax is stamped 0 XSM136060-1C and etched Ƨ1 D11.

Free shipping is included in the special corrugated album mailer seen in the last picture.
This vintage 12" vinyl album has been sitting upright on a shelf in climate controlled storage for the past 53 years. It has not been played in decades other than a quick test spin for this sale which found no skips or obvious flaws. Like all used records it should be cleaned and wiped with an anti-static brush to minimize the occasional pops that are part of playing vinyl albums. Buyers should note that this is a well-cared for but used record and it will have some minor imperfections.
